“You’ve got Mail and it’ll make your hair curl,” pronounces the by line to Portia Da Costa’s In too Deep and boy, is that an understatement. I had curly hair to start with and by the end of this book it was like I’d had a perm! Seriously now, this is one hot read. Exhibitionism, kink, mystery and love, you’ve got it all in here.

It all starts in a library. What a fantastic setting or am I the only person to find the smell of books sexy? Anyhow, Portia Da Costa writes this in first person, so you are immediately put into the shoes of the lovely, curvy and slightly pervy Librarian, Gwendolynne Price.

You are dropped right in the action. The book starts with a mystery letter and not only is the writer mysterious, the writer is kinky as well. I loved this premise. I am such an old fashioned soul really and there is something in a written letter that holds a special romance for me. I thought it was an unusual way to start a novel and Portia Da Costa continued to surprise me in a good way throughout her work.

Sometimes I find it difficult to connect with an erotica book because it’s all sex and nothing deeper or because the characters are completely unattractive in my eyes. I found I really understood Gwendolynne and as I was in her thoughts and actions because of the point of view, I really found myself immersed in the story. I liked how Gwen had curves and insecurities too. I get sick of tall, shapely women with flat stomachs and perfect skin in stories, don’t you? It is nice to read about a different kind of sexy woman, something less stereotypical and more unique.

 Also, this is a fantastically sexy novel, it is really scorching hot but at its heart it is a love story and it is filled with real, raw emotion. I like to react to what I’m reading. I want a book to make me laugh, to make me cry, to make me feel for the characters involved. In too deep made me laugh, it made me cry and I really felt for the characters. I thoroughly enjoyed it as not only an erotica but also as entertainment. I read it to find out what happened next, not just to see when the next sex scene would happen.
