D. L. KingErotica Readers & Writers Association
A smut writing New Yorker, D.L. King likes to play with toys: both human and manufactured, sometimes with both at the same time—actually, most often with both at the same time. A practitioner and devotee of female domination, she began her erotic writing career with a novel detailing her passions. The Melinoe Project was her first effort and, like Stephenie Meyer and Twilight, while one might agree to the first title being a ripping, good yarn, she got better with practice. (The Art of Melinoe is a smoother read and the upcoming The Slave of Melinoe promises to be better yet. That’s if she can ever actually finish The Slave of Melinoe…) All that aside, she feels compelled to spend an inordinate amount of time reading and writing smut in her apartment and postage stamp sized garden. She certainly doesn’t do it to pay the bills because, well, unlike E. L. James’ 50 Shades books, it doesn’t pay the bills. It’s a shame because that means she has to work two full-time jobs. The universe is a harsh taskmaster. D. L. King is the editor of Seductress: Erotic Tales of Immortal Desire, The Harder She Comes: Butch/Femme Erotica, Spankalicious: Adventures in Spanking, the Independent Publisher Awards Gold Medalist, Carnal Machines: Steampunk Erotica, The Sweetest Kiss: Ravishing Vampire Erotica, the Lambda Literary Award Finalist, Where the Girls Are: urban Lesbian Erotica and the upcoming Under Her Thumb: Stories of Female Dominance, with a forward by Midori. Her short stories can be found in anthologies such as The Mammoth Book of Best New Erotica, Best Women’s Erotica, Best Lesbian Erotica, Say Please, Luscious, One Night Only, Gotta Have It, Hurts So Good, Please, Ma’am, Yes, Ma’am, Sex in the City: New York, Sweet Love and many more. As mentioned previously, the vast majority of her oeuvre include tales of dominant women and submissive playmates. As a New Yorker, in love with New York, much of D. L. King’s work is New York centric. The city, if not a main character, almost always has some role to play in her stories. She is the publisher of the review site, Erotica Revealed. She’s all over the web. Here are a few places she can be found:
