About Donna George Storey:

I’ve always wanted to write fiction, but didn’t have the time or the courage until my oldest son was born and I decided to leave my job teaching Japanese literature to be a full-time parent in 1997. From the start, I was drawn to erotic themes and although I resisted at first—erotica seemed too scandalous for a shy bookworm like me—I soon realized I had to write what I loved.

Fortunately, over the years the love has translated into publication online at Clean Sheets, Scarlet Letters, Ruthie’s Club and Fishnet and in over two dozen anthologies including Best American Erotica, Mammoth Book of Best New Erotica and Best Women’s Erotica. I owe most of this to ERWA! It was here that I saw Violet Blue’s call for Taboo: Forbidden Fantasies for Couples and submitted “Picture Perfect,” my first erotic story in print. Through ERWA, I was also able to work with Susie Bright, Rachel Kramer Bussel, Maxim Jakubowski, Mitzi Szereto and the awesome Alison Tyler, as well as meet other writers whose words have inspired me. Based on my more limited experience with the mainstream “literary” establishment, I have to say that erotica writers are far more generous, humorous and downright fun!

My most recent publication is my first novel, Amorous Woman, published in the fall of 2007 by Orion in the UK. Based on the seventeenth-century Japanese erotic classic, Ihara Saikaku’s Life of an Amorous Woman, as well as my own experiences living in Kyoto, the book traces an American woman’s love affair with Japan—the food, the history, the pornography, and of course a fair number of sexy men and women along the way.
