Tuscany Nudes by Petter Hegre
Edition Skylight (October 1, 2009); ISBN-10: 3037666005
Shot over a period of five years, in Tuscany Nudes Hegre shows more than 100 photographs that pay homage to the Renaissance, the flowing contours of his exquisitely proportioned female fi gures against a backdrop of elegant palaces. Hegre's nudes are completely natural, no artifice or accessories, the combination a blend of the classic and contemporary the realization of Hegre's youthful ambitions.
Hegre has worked alone, without assistants, using primarily natural light and the rich ingredients of Tuscany; wine, olive oil, grape. A good proportion of the photographs in Tuscany Nudes was created at Villa Mangiacane, the 16th century stately home built for the Machiavelli family. The South African owner Glynn Cohen has restored the house and gardens to their original splendor, the ancient statuary and mesmerising pools creating a feeling that in Tuscany, time is eternal, as are Petter Hegre's photographs in this memorable collection.

Strange Days: Aliens, Adventurers, Devils, and Dames by Arnie Fenner & Cathy Fenner (Editors)
Underwood Books (October 1, 2009); ISBN-10: 1599290391
For a quarter of a century, pulp magazines were the most popular entertainment medium in America. Read by everyone from schoolchildren to businessmen, their contents ranged from hard-boiled detective yarns to sci-fi to syrupy love stories. Their sensational and often lurid cover illustrations were considered low-grade trash by the literary and artistic standards of their day, but time has a funny way of changing things. Now deemed Americana Pop Art, the original illustrations fetch thousands of dollars at auctions.
Strange Days presents 32 full-color, framable examples of this gaudy but appealing genre. Included are works by some of its most renowned artists, including Virgil Finlay, Hannes Bok, Edd Cartier, Margaret Brundage, Jerome Rozen, Enoch Bolles, and Walter Baumhoffer. Presented in an oversized 11” x 15” format and printed on heavy stock, Strange Days is a must-have collection for any pulp or period art fan.

The Big Book of Legs by Dian Hanson
TASCHEN America Llc (April 1, 2009); ISBN-10: 3836501880
The female leg is a sexual oddity. It’s non-genital, nearly identical in structure to the corresponding male body part, and there is no obvious reason why it should be eroticized. Yet, through much of history, across many cultures, the female leg was hidden from sight and treated as such a taboo topic that it became an object of intense sexual obsession. In the Victorian era, the word “leg” was so forbidden that it couldn’t be uttered in polite society, lest men be driven wild with lust. Even now, 80 years after women’s legs came out of hiding, their allure remains strong.
In this third book of Dian Hanson’s wildly successful body parts series, she explores how freeing the female leg became central to women’s liberation, beginning with the French Revolution and ending with the sexual revolution. Over 400 photos document the first burlesque “leg shows” of the 1800s, the silk-stockinged flappers of the 1920s, the nylon-mania of the 1940s, the dawn of the stiletto heel in the 1950s, all leading to the golden age of leg magazines in the 1960s. Learn who wore the first high heels, how nylons became a weapon of war, why Betty Grable’s were the million dollar legs, where Elmer Batters got his start and just what the deal is with feet, while enjoying great vintage photos by Irving Klaw, Batters, and other great masters of leg art.

Erotica Universalis: From Pompeii to Picasso
Taschen; Abridged edition (July 15, 2005); ISBN-10: 3822841021
From the dawn of time, ever since Adam and Eve, all artists of every age—whether the Egyptian, Greek and Roman artists of Antiquity, or more recent famous names as Rembrandt, Courbet, Degas or Picasso—have succumbed to their fantasies, obsessions and libido, and produced erotic works that the censors have taken good care to keep from the public. For Erotica, we surface from the subterranean realms of the museums to enter those of our national and private libraries. Here we discover that not only most of our famous writers, such as Ovid, Aretino, Voltaire, Verlaine or Maupassant, wrote erotic texts that bordered on indecency, but also that great artists like Boucher, Fragonard, Dalí or Matisse were inspired to provide suitable illustrations for these naughty books.
For this special anniversary edition, we have culled highlights from our Erotica Universalis collection. A banquet for the imagination and a feast of the eye!
The author:
Gilles Néret was an art historian, journalist, writer, and museum correspondent. He organized several art retrospectives in Japan and founded the SEIBU museum and the Wildenstein Gallery in Tokyo. He directed art reviews such as L`Oeil and Connaissance des Arts and received the Elie Faure Prize in 1981 for his publications. Néret is the editor of TASCHEN'S catalogues raisonnés of the works of Monet and Velázquez, as well as the author of Dali The Paintings and Erotica Universalis. He died on August 3, 2005.

Gil Elvgren: All His Glamorous American Pin-Ups
Taschen; 25th anniversary edition (January 1, 2008); ISBN-10: 3836503050
Post-depression America was in desperate need of a defining iconography that would lift it out of the black and white doldrums, and it came in the form of Gil Elvgren's Technicolor fantasies of the American dream. His technique - which earned him a reputation as "The Norman Rockwell of cheesecake" - involved photographing models and then painting them into gorgeous hyper-reality, with longer legs, more flamboyant hair and gravity-defying busts, and in the process making them the perfect moral-boosting eye-candy for every homesick private.
"Glamour is back... TASCHEN offers us a look back at these calendar and advertisement goddesses of which Gil Elvgren is king." erotisme-fr.com, France

The Big Penis Book by Dian Hanson (Editor)
Taschen (June 25, 2008); ISBN-10: 3836502135
The fascinating phallus, undressed to impress.
After the bust out success of The Big Book of Breasts TASCHEN presents the perfect companion, The Big Penis Book.
When it comes to pleasure, size doesn't matter; as we all know its quality, not quantity, that counts. But lets admit it: a big penis is undeniably compelling. Big shoulders, big lapels, and big hair may come and go, but the big penis never goes out of fashion. With those possessing more than 8 inches (20 cm) making up less than 2% of the worlds population, this rare accessory will always fascinate.
In The Big Penis Book editor Dian Hanson explores the centuries-old fascination with the large phallus, a fascination common to men and women alike. This hefty book is profusely illustrated with over 400 historic photos of spectacular male endowments, including rare photos of the legendary John Holmes. The majority of the photographs are from the 1970s, when the sexual revolution first freed photographers to depict the male entirely nude.
Photographers include Bob Mizer of Athletic Model Guild, David Hurles of Old Reliable, Colt, Falcon, Sierra Domino, Third World, and Champion Studios, with each of these iconic photographers interviewed or profiled, along with information about each of their models. And if this isn't enough, the book closes with a special surprise comparable to the Guinness Book of Records Norma Stitz featured in The Big Book of Breasts! Can you guess what body part Dian is dissecting next?

Two Knotty Boys Showing You The Ropes:
A Step-by-Step, Illustrated Guide for Tying Sensual and Decorative Rope Bondage
Green Candy Press (November 20, 2006); ISBN-10: 193116049X
When Two Knotty Boys, Dan and J. D., began teaching rope bondage together in 1999, they discovered that most people learn best when they're shown close up, step by step, and repeatedly how to tie basic knots and combine them into bondage techniques. It is this learning process that they duplicate in this book. With the help of world-renowned photographer Larry Utley, they use over 750 photos and captions to explicate the soup-to-nuts techniques for turning great knots into great bondage that is safe, sensual, attractive, and effective.
Readers can learn at their own pace, review whole techniques at a single glance, or even lay it flat on the table (beside their blindfolded partner) and follow along as they tie. Two Knotty Boys Showing You the Ropes appeals to those interested in improving the quality of their sex lives, not to mention aficionados of bondage and discipline/sadomasochism (BDSM), both curious newcomers and serious players alike.

H2O by Howard Schatz (Photographer)
Bulfinch (November 12, 2007); ISBN-10: 0316117757
Acclaimed photographer Howard Schatz broke new ground in the 1990s with his books WATER DANCE and POOL LIGHT, two collections of luminous photographs of dancers, some clothed and some nude, all taken underwater. His underwater photography has been called uncanny, lithe and athletic, exquisitely real, and mysterious, and has been widely imitated in art and advertising. The dancers seem to transcend time and space to become floating, ethereal objects. Schatz's new underwater photographs are shot in a state-of-the-art, custom-built pool fitted with studio lights and covered with a giant dome to regulate temperature. The results are stunning. His unique images—at once lyrical, fantastic, and palpably real—express the beauty of inspired movement magically free of the restrictions of gravity.
Howard Schatz is the author of 15 books of photography, including the critically acclaimed Athlete. He lives in New York with wife and business partner, Beverly Ornstein.
