One interesting detail that I haven't seen come up yet (pun intended) is the eye of the beholder. MILF seems to be label that can be given to a lady behind her back.  A MILF might not think about being one, or do anything to get that label except look like herself.  Mom I'd like to fuck, not Mom I am fucking- you see.

Cougars on the flip side, got the name by chasing, and presumably actually doing what they want.  I don't think a cougar gets "surprised" by her label.

To UK M: [see entry below] You make me think of a friend of mine who is mid fiftys and dates only men at least 10 years younger than herself. She serves notice to the guys she dates that she will date other men when she wants. I date this woman sometimes and I must say that she knows how to have all guys eating out of her hand!

In the UK the cougar debate is taking off with two camps developing.  One is the feminist, deploring the whole concept of women preying on young men.  The other, more relaxed, is the go for it girl! mindset. 

I'm in my late forties have been divorced for over 18 months.  I've kept my looks, figure and legs and dress to attract and make no bones about going out to attract men, meeting them mainly at bars and parties.  In the 18 months I have had 10 sexual partners, seven were in age terms between 20 and 35, and produced some of the most exciting sex I have ever enjoyed.  I sometimes go to bars with a holier-than-thou married friend who has consistently criticized my aggressive attitude of sex is fun, and dangerous going with guys who are strangers.

Cougars can be very hot unless they are desperate and pathetic. It can get very uncomfortable seeing an older woman try to play cat and mouse with a younger guy and he is definitely not into it.  Just like there is a way to be a lady and a MILF, there's a way to be a lady and cougar too.
