My question: why are so many of the women who responded tolerating uncomfortable, impersonal, or downright painful gynecological exams? My ob-gyn reminds me of my mother: not a very titillating relationship, sure - but guess what? I get an exam every year without dread or procrastination. She guided me through a hellacious pregnancy, treated my postpartum depression, and got my sex drive back on track afterwards. That's a good doctor.

 I have never personally been turned on by my gyno, and I doubt they will let you sit in on her exam, but I'm all for the fantasy. Sounds like you kids might want to get the home game. Stirrups are difficult to come by, but play doctors can improvise with the bed restraints. There is no such thing as malpractice in the fantasy. I looked at this month's topic and thought to myself, oh wow. Talk about synchronicity!

I had an idea earlier this year to write a short story based on this very premise. In order to make it work, I felt that the patient and the doctor had to have some sort of previous connection -- in this case, she was a former student of his from several years ago, and while there had been a bit of chemistry back then nothing ever happened.

I never wrote it because the reality of a pelvic is pretty boring. The person performing the procedure is usually well inured to the sight of girl-parts. And you aren't there for sex, after all. I couldn't separate the reality of it enough to really get into the fantasy of it. I thought, 'no one is going to think this is sexy.'
