After I was divorced from my first wife, I lived alone for a number of years.  From time to time divorced or single lady friends of a certain age would invite themselves to stay; with the excuse of a wedding or a funeral or some other reason for passing my way .

I had a beautiful, very comfortable old house  with exceptional guest room.  I have always enjoyed being able to offer good hospitality in my home. After a delicious supper and a few glasses of excellent wine I would show my lady guest to her room and ask if she would like some company.  They usually gave me a sweet smile and said, " See you later".  Our night together was a gentle loving experience, enjoyed by both of us .

One married lady who invited herself to stay made it clear that she and her husband hadn't had sex in years. She asked me to paint her portrait , inviting me to stay at her house. I was supposed to sleep in the guest room, but spent most of the night in her room.  I think her husband was well aware of what was happening and didn't seem to mind. The husband was really more my friend than his wife. I began to realise that this lady was really hooked on me and though attractive not my ideal type. She wanted to divorce her husband and marry me. Eventually our relationship turned sour and came to an end .

Another relationship I enjoyed was with a lovely lady who sadly enjoyed alcoholic binges.  I offered locally an unofficial taxi service for people to go to parties, dances, to dinner, the pub, so that they could drink and not have to drive home.  This lady depended on driving her car for her job.  I used to take her to parties and then she would ring to be taken home again at whatever hour.  Her home was very close to mine. 

One evening when I had driven her home she invited me in for a glass of wine. Soon she asked me to put my arms around her, then we kissed.  She asked me to stay the night, which I was happy to do; we bathed together and went to bed.  We made love in the night and again in the morning early before she had to dash off to work.  This  relationship lasted for a year or two; she was also dating her friend's 18yr old son. 

I couldn't come to terms with the alcoholism.  One night she telephoned several people in the village at 2-30am, before somebody gave her my number.  I went out to fetch her and found her staggering in the road.  I took her back to my house for the night to sleep beside me in my bed.  The next morning she had a job to do and asked me to drive her because she was still too drunk.  She got into the back of my car and when we reached the Cash and Carry where she had to buy a lot of stuff, I had difficulty getting  her  out.  She had given me the shopping list, but I simply could not do it by myself.  But for the drinking I truly loved her.  Happily she has married a much older man who likes a drop of drink himself

I think a sympathy fuck can be nasty or noble, but it depends on the degrees to which you find the other person attractive or repellant. If you fuck someone who's actually repellant to you, unless you're into masochism, then that's nasty and degrading. However, if you don't find the fuckee repulsive at all, then it's on the noble side if you actually want to comfort someone sexually.

Yes, I've done it on a number of occasions, and each time it's something that I've either inadvertently talked my way into, or have otherwise not been able to refuse for fear of hurting the other party. Unlike some of your correspondents, for me the sex has been purely mechanical, and not at all fulfilling. However on each occasion, the other party involved seemed not only to enjoy it, but to do so immensely. I guess that making someone else happy in these circumstances should be reward enough!
