What Turns You On

I'm still not sure what turns me on. Some of the things I read (or watch) just don't do anything for me, for example, men or women humiliated and degraded. I'm all for sex being fun and joyful, physical injury is outside the pale for me.

'Erotic' used to mean 'pertaining to love' but its meaning has been changed to 'exciting desire.'  I prefer the old definition, but then I'm a hopeless romantic.  Love, desire, and hot sex do occur together, you know!

I like realism when reading about sex. I don't like exaggeration. Exaggeration doesn't enhance the story for me, but rather detracts from it because it interrupts my suspension of disbelief with disbelief.

For example, the hyperbole surrounding female sex fluids. I will always roll my eyes when I come across the expressions, sopping pussy or dripping cunt. If those exaggerations were real, we'd all be wearing adult diapers to save our furniture and carpeting.

As for squirters, I've seen porno movies that feature squirting and, I'm sorry but it just looks like pee to me. The thing that makes it even more suspect is that I cannot pee for five to ten minutes after having an orgasm. (Though I must admit I've never tried to urinate during an orgasm.)

Orgasms without any clitoral stimulation also raise an eyebrow with me. It may be true that a small group of women have them, but then why are they so over represented in erotica? And if vaginal orgasms are as real as clitoral orgasms, does that mean I can have simultaneous orgasms with myself? I've never read about that occurring in a story.

There are several things that turn me on. One that I enjoy is when my nipples are touched or caressed. I enjoy when my wife does it no doubt. But they have gotten so sensitive that even when I am putting on a shirt sometimes the shirt rubbing across them turns me on which at times is very inconvenient. Since I am a male I find this very interesting and unusual.

I find that M/f, D/s stuff is stimulating even when disturbing.  No doubt this triggers deep responses somewhere inside even though I have no direct experience of them.  Fear is certainly one of the responses. There is a web site called Sex and Submissionwhich shows lots of harsh male domination, but at the end of every episode the man and woman are shown smiling and embracing.  I suppose this is to dissipate the fear.

It is indeed cool that words printed on paper or shown on a screen can have such power to arouse.  It shows how important it is to have tolerance for the different styles of approach to the erotic
