Acoustic Version

baby's in a black mantilla,
her aspirations public rubble,
smoking ash;
baby's in a black mantilla,
her diaphanous silence stilling
any kisses I might've bestowed
on her silken thighs, molasses skin;
baby doesn't give a fuck
about the obvious admiration
her curves and gait inspire;
baby's in a black mantilla,
her public lover under rubble,
her calming touch denied
while I wait for her to shed
her black.

Electric Version

Her bee-stung bellicose mouth
offers no kisses,
no pianissimo promises for this shadow amour,
at least not yet;
her grief is not friable like those high-rise
charnel houses.
Her manganese gaze challenges, lends
her bucking red splays meaning and grace
with their absence,
her future embraces and salubrious fucks
laved by time and circumstance.
With a raveled heart, I offer condolences
to my sister-in-law.
