\n One of the pleasures of the rictameter is that there is no
\nneed for rhyme: it relies on a strict adherence to syllable count. (Well, as
\nstrict as syllable counts can be given our different regional pronunciations).<\/p>\n
I know we looked at this form back in August last year, but it’s never too soon to revisit a quality form of poetry.<\/p>\n
The
\nRictameter starts off with a two syllable line, moves up to a four syllable,
\nand then a six and an eight and a ten syllable line, before going on to an
\neight syllable line, followed by a six, a four and a two syllable closure. The
\nfinal line is a repeat of the first line, so it helps if it\u2019s something punchy
\nand memorable.<\/p>\n<\/p>\n
\noral<\/p>\n
\nmouth, lips and tongue<\/p>\n
\nready to devour<\/p>\n
\nyet bestowing so much pleasure<\/p>\n
\nsucking, slurping, spitting or swallowing <\/p>\n
\nan overwhelm of sensation<\/p>\n
\nthat ends in liquid rush<\/p>\n
\nand wanting more<\/p>\n
