Worth It

“You know, I’m a bit jealous.”

Chloe turned to Sarah, who lay face-down on the sauna bench. “Why?”

“Centre of attention, big day.”

Chloe grinned. “You’re chief bridesmaid. You’ll have your own big day.”

Sarah propped herself up on her elbows. “This spa weekend with my almost-sister-in-law is really special.” She sat up and covered herself with a towel. “What have you arranged?”

“Massage, facial, wax, nails. Basically the works.”

“You’re spoiling me.”

“Maybe you’re worthit.”

“Remember when Greg first brought you home? I had this huge crush on you.”

Chloe remembered that pretty, coltish fifteen-year-old, now a very attractive young woman. “That was four years ago. Maybe I’ll fancy your boyfriends.”

Sarah bit her lip. “Keep a secret?”

“Of course.”

She sighed. “I’m not sure about boys.”

Chloe sat up. “It’s normal to wonder. I was confused at university, but guys won me over.”

“You’re bi?”

“Greg doesn’t know.”

Chloe nodded. “He’s on deployment soon.”

“Part of being an officer’s wife.”

“I really fancy you.” Chloe stood and dropped her towel. “Share a shower?”

Sarah swallowed. “Very tempted, but it could get complicated.”

Chloe stepped closer. “I’m not worthit?”

Sarah took Chloe’s hand. “You most definitely are.”
