Setting aside all snide remarks about body shape and condition and being afraid that others would run screaming from the scene (and other self-deprecating remarks), I wonder how many people are comfortable being nude in public, or quasi-public, areas, and mostly private areas. So, any thoughts on nudity?

I have been a home nudist now for several years. My wife and I have different schedules and I work weekends and am off during the week. I enjoy going naked at home. I have found it to be so much more comfortable and enjoyable. I recently purchased a residence with a swimming pool. On the days I’m home alone I go to the pool. Once I get in I take off my suit and swim naked. The pool has palm trees on both sides and is on water so no one can see in. I am rarely in it with a suit on. It is the best way to go.

I really love being nude. It is just me and my dog I walk around the house naked most the time and the curtains are all left open. I remember one day when I was washing some clothes, the washer and dryer is next to a outside door with a big window, I just so happen to look up and seen the neighbor lady staring at me. I love being in the nude, and at home that’s the way I usually am. Unfortunately it’s not possible for me to go out with no clothes on, so the next best option is to wear something light and floaty with nothing underneath. A long time ago I threw away all my bra’s and knickers. I always hated wearing them. Now when I go out I feel the breeze under my skirt. The feeling is fantastic.

Well, here is an input from a convicted exposer. I love nudity, but unfortunately, my mind and body equate nudity with sexual arousal. Several of the people were correct in commenting that nudity has to be in context. A nude sunbather is socially acceptable in most cases, a man masturbating or erect in public is unacceptable.
I really wish I could hike or swim nude without a raging erection, but it is not possible. I have chosen isolated places and hiked nude, with my clothes handy. Every time, I end up aroused, even with no one around, and I masturbate 1 or 2 times before I have to get clothed again.
I have learned in therapy that masturbating in this way while engaging in nudity is reinforcing the sexual connection. Does anyone have any knowledge on being nude without being aroused? I would like to practice the techniques you would provide.

Well I Finally did it, I went to the nude beach at Sandy Hook N.J. the weather was not all that favorable it was cloudy and quite cool only about 70 degrees. But I did get naked and spend about three hours on the beach despite the weather. I had someone take some photos of me so I can look back and remember my very first experience at a nude beach.
I can’t wait to do it again. I plan on visiting a nude resort in Virginia within the next couple of weeks, I hope the weather is more cooperative, as the cool weather causes a shrinkage problem.

I’m in my 50s and a nudist at heart. I wouldn’t think of forcing my nudity upon others, but thoroughly enjoy this secret side of myself. I travel extensively and frequently get to my hotel, take a shower and don’t bother to put anything on until morning. If no one is at home, I may not get dressed for hours. Not too risqué by most standards, but I’ve always wanted to go to a nude beach or some other venue where everyone felt comfortable without clothes.
That’s part of the beauty of it, just feeling comfortable with yourself. All of us grew up with pinup posters, but must admit there is nothing so erotic as a woman that can disrobe her mind and soul as well as her body even if she’s older, sagging and wrinkled. What I see is the soul of the free spirit and consider myself very lucky for the glimpses that I’ve had along the way.

I went to Puerto Angel, Oaxaca, Mexico with a college class on language & culture. A very small town nearby, Zipolite, has a nude beach–very odd contrast to the rather conservative towns I’d visited before. At first it was a little shocking, to see naked people just hanging out (it was only about 5 or 6 people, mostly ex-hippies and German tourists) but I got used to it pretty quick.
I couldn’t bring myself to hang around naked, as I’m very insecure about my body, but we caught one of our classmates on video tape in all his glory, and I am one of a select few to have seen the professor’s butterfly tattoo–which is on his ass.

The first time I skinny-dipped I was 21-years-old. We had a pool. It was about 11 o’clock on a hot summer night and before going to bed I wanted to take a dip. This was not unusual. I often swam at night. My parents were asleep. So I changed into a swimsuit and headed outside. It was probably 85 degrees out and humid, and as I reached the pool I got the overwhelming urge to swim naked. I wasn’t sure what to do about it because nudity was something we just didn’t “do” in my house. But again, the urge was overwhelming. I looked around, saw only darkness, stripped off my trunks and dove in.

Anyway, I swam for about half an hour, then hoisted myself up on the side of the pool to rest — butt naked — the summer breeze drying me off. As I’m sitting there I hear a light thump next to me. It was a towel, thrown there by my Dad, who is looking down at me disapprovingly. “Get your clothes on. And don’t do that again,” he said. For a couple of seconds I was mortified. Then I stood up, defiantly naked, walked over and grabbed my swim trunks. Only, I didn’t put them on and I didn’t wrap myself in the towel. Instead, I walked across the lawn naked and into the house, only covering up when I got in.
Next morning he gives me this lecture about how I was a man now and if a man gets caught naked in public he could get arrested. He had a point, I guess, but I just think my father was excessively body-shy. I was a gym rat and so semi-public nudity (of the locker room variety) was something I was used to — and skinny-dipping in my own backyard seemed like just a natural extension of that — though there’s no way I would have done it in front of my mother or sister. Anyway, I look back on that night and wonder how funny it must have looked from his perspective, to see me trekking across the lawn, pissed-off and bare-assed!

I’m getting into the mid 60s period of life. We belong to a nudist club and my girlfriend and I intend to spend about 10 weeks there this summer. We are both self employed and need only a computer and internet connection to work. I have been a skinny dipper since my teens. The club is a family AANR club with people of all ages from children through people that make me look young. If people have sex it is privately in their cabin or RV or tent. No guys are ever walking around with erections or always looking for a place they can masturbate. While there are jerks everywhere I haven’t run into many at nudist clubs. The sexual pressures are much less than at a clothed resort.
The people there reflect American society, too many too fat for good health, too many smoke, too much alcohol is a common failing. For all that everybody is there with a live and let live attitude and are generally polite and considerate. It isn’t the calisthenics at dawn and health-food of the mythology of former generations. It also isn’t a place of wild sex unlike many fantasies.

I am not comfortable in public or quasi-public, but in private, sure! I’ve gone skinny dipping several times, all of them at the beach at night, only once when more than two people were there- I was much younger then. I would do it again if it were in private- there is something very relaxing and sensual about the warm water.
I have been to ‘clothing optional’ locations several times in my life. I kept my covering on, but found that the majority of the people who don’t are not destined for Playboy or Playgirl photo shoots, but are just comfortable in their own skin (no matter what it looks like).
I’d have to vote in favor of nudity, but with limited viewership for myself, but without restriction on the ability of others to be nude when/where they wish – except for, say, the grocery store or the dentist. That would just be weird.

Naked in “public” is ultimately natural and conducive to meeting men and women on the most basic, animal level. I prefer beaches or mountainous areas. On a recent trip to a Gulf coast beach, I enjoyed an incredible two mile stroll down a pristine white sand beach that was only sparsely dotted with other fellow naturists, all minding their own business.

I once visited the naturist resort, Cap’d ‘Agde, in southern France. What a place that is. You can be naked everywhere there. In the banks, shops etc. Also there is an adult section along the beach where people openly have sex. I would live there if I had the chance.

Being nude is so nice and relaxing. I only wish I had started to enjoy it in my 20’s and 30’s. But once I started experiencing nudity outdoors, I have tried to find more times to enjoy this. I love to go out and find a spot to strip down and enjoy some nude sunbathing. I have tried to get my wife to also join me, but she is hesitant. She does join me in the yard at our condo and it is great to see her nude with me.
This summer we took the boat out and enjoyed five days on the lake. Once we were out of the marina, I took off my swim suit and spent almost the entire time nude. I can hardly wait for next year to go and enjoy being nude for days. Now I am always looking for an opportunity to be nude. When I use the hot tub, it is almost always with nothing on. I am looking to try and get to a nude beach to enjoy some sun and surf without anything on.

Just an observation from a gym rat… I think most guys enjoy being naked. Me included. I’ve been using locker rooms for 30 years now, and while they are not sexually charged places (unless maybe you are gay) they are very relaxed and casual — and that lends itself to lingering nudity (I’m not talking obnoxiously lingering nudity — just no extreme hurry to get dressed.)
While I have never been to a nudist resort or colony or beach — and am not really interested in doing so, I can understand when those who do go say there is little sexual tension despite the legions of naked bodies. This, to me, is sort of like a locker room. You get ‘permission’ to go naked. You do so and find you rather enjoy it.

There is a time and place for everything! I do not think the city centre is the place for public nudity. In my view that is pure exhibitionism. I have enjoyed nudity from an early age in the garden or by the sea. I did go through a lengthy growing up period when I was shy to be seen naked. In my early teens the fear of having an erection was a deterrent.
I now live in Thailand with my much younger Thai wife. Nudity is absolutely Taboo in Thailand. My wife tells me that she and her former husband never saw each other naked, even in bed; they never touched by hand each other’s genitals. Apparently this is common in Thailand; though perhaps less so among the youth of today. My wife and I have no inhibitions and enjoy nudity in our home and share the bathroom. My wife 49yrs has a stunning slender figure that most women would die for. I enjoy to watch her shower, dress and undress, just to see the beauty of her slender but well covered and perfectly proportioned body.
My experience on nudist beaches is that thin women often look awful undressed. Women who are quite plump, even fat, who might look a tubby bundle in clothes, can look beautiful naked.
My wife and I used to be in very good shape and both loved being naked anywhere. We went to a nude swingers resort in Mexico once and stayed naked for week. The beach wasn’t closed to passers by and people would trip all over themselves as they passed all of us sun bathing. There were a couple hundred other people at the resort. We played with a few other couples and had sex by the upstairs pool one day as others watched.
