From the Erotica Readers & Writers Association

_______

Dear Lascivious Loyalists,

Welcome to the November edition of the Erotica Readers & Writers Association. In the U.S.A, at least, it’s traditional to give thanks in November. I want to express my sincere gratitude to you, faithful readers, for perusing the Erotic Lure month after month, exploring the ERWA site, and forgiving my overly enthusiastic alliteration and unrelentingly bad jokes.

I’ll try to do better. Now on with the tour!

The November Gallery is a cornucopia of outstanding fiction by some of the best authors on the planet. Our featured guest Janine Ashbless has penned a lively intro in which she explains why she writes erotica, following up with three incredible stories of irresistible desire. Then the members of Storytime take over, sharing their erotic visions with consummate skill and occasional humor. There’s no official Gallery theme this month, but many of the offerings explore taboos and forbidden pleasures. Be warned! (Are you tempted?)

Indulge yourself in an erotic banquet:

In Books for Sensual Readers, you find additional literary bounty. Looking for sexy shorts? Check out D.L. King’s succubus collection SEDUCTRESS, or Alison Tyler’s couples-focused anthology MORNING, NOON, AND NIGHT, or, for unstinting kinkiness, my own collection JUST A SPANKING. My pick in erotic novels is Emma Becker’s MONSIEUR, a shocking tale of a very young woman’s passion for a much older man. Luna Carrol’s erotic romance MINE HEART AND SOUL is full of Gothic goodness, set as it is in a Romanian castle haunted by Death, whose ancient, seductive owner preys on human souls.

In the gay fiction section, don’t miss Geoffrey Knight’s erotic adventure THE CROSS OF SINS, which sounds like THE DA VINCI CODE married to “Raiders of the Lost Ark”, seasoned of course, with plenty of sex. Meghan O’Brien’s lesbian novel THE NIGHT OFF features a rigidly self-controlled heroine who purchases the services of a professional Dominatrix for a single night of release – with unforeseen consequences for them both. And Wet Angel Books has added a new title to their Forbidden Erotic Classics series with an illustrated version of Ben Hecht’s 1922 novel FANTAZIUS MALLARE, a book that was banned by U.S. censors when it was first published and that landed the illustrator Wallace Smith in jail.

(I’m thankful we live in times when such explicit books are legal – though just barely.)

Speaking of thanksgiving, I’d be personally grateful if you’d use the ERWA links to Amazon or Amazon  UK to buy any books that intrigue you. Every purchase you make via our affiliate links helps to keep ERWA alive and steaming.

Read books that burn:

Since I’ve already got you hot and bothered, let’s slide over to the Sex Toy Playground to see what’s up. (Besides the obvious, of course…) Kyra Saunders is in rare form as she reviews the Uma Waterproof Rechargeable Vibe. “I was amused to find that the Uma floated in the sink”, she writes. “It might be a nice feature if you like to play in bodies of water like bathtubs or hot tubs. Just don’t queue the Jaws theme song.” Our regular Sex Toy Scuttlebutt column helps you stay current on the latest and greatest erotic technology – like the We-Vibe couples vibrator, which I swear looks more like a fancy piece of office equipment than a sex toy. Our master negotiators at ERWA have arranged tasty discounts for you at Adam & Eve, Adult DVD Empire, Babeland, and Good Vibrations. So go ahead and order those nipple clamps or that cock sleeve. You know you want to!

Playing is healthy:

Speaking of technology – do you have smartphone envy? Are you concerned because you don’t have an author app? In the Authors Resources pages this month, the Erotogeek (that’s me) offers some straight talk on mobile madness. What’s an app and what can it do for you? Read my column “App-y Together” to find out. Donna George Storey is back, cooking up a story this month with her article “Creating Pure Pleasure”. So what if literary purists view erotica as trash? It’s a pleasure (and an education) to write.

For additional thought-provoking articles about writing, erotica and society, visit ERWA blog. (There’s also a convenient link on the Author page!) A dozen experienced (and opinionated!) authors share their views and knowledge, throughout the month. Type your email address into the “Home Delivery” slot to get all the blog updates delivered to your inbox. We post all calls for submissions on the blog as they arrive, too.

And yes, of course we’ve got a bunch of new publishing opportunities for you for this month. Mitzi Szereto is looking for Gothic-themed stories with a dark edge. Shane Allison’s got a new call for stories about gay rookie cops. Musa Publishing wants both GLBT and heterosexual tales that peek under the cape of your favorite superheroes. There are dozens of additional publishers, web sites, anthologies and contests listed, and the listings are constantly growing. Visit the ERWA Authors Resources page and publish your work.

Erotica is a hot genre:

But enough about work! Let’s get back into recreational mode and head for the Adult Movies page. Lots of great titles to choose from here, from the insightful and well-acted “Shared Wives” to the non-stop kink-fest “D3viance”. For my upcoming birthday, I want “The Ultimate 4 Pack”, a giant collection of four classic porn flicks featuring legends like Asia Carrera and Jenna Jameson. Then there’s “Private Collection: Book One”, a gorgeous celebration of passionate, authentic F/F sex. My vintage pick is the 1976 release “The Analyst”, which features a very young, deliciously nubile Candida Royalle.

As the weather gets chilly, what better way to relax than with some of our fabulous sexy films? Our competent affiliates can get them into your hands faster than you can say “Pass the lube, please”.

Focus on the visual:

Inside the Erotic Mind this month, the discussion revolves around that tiny but oh so important bit, the clitoris. Contributors share (in amazing detail) a wide variety of clitoral stimulation techniques – a most impressive example of different strokes for different folks! You can join the discussion. Just click on the Participate link. And did you know that discussions are ongoing on the topics from past months? Whatever topics you find interesting – fantasies, kink, masturbation, porn – just follow the links to enjoy comments by other readers and provide your own input.

I think I’ve reached the end of the Lure – or at least exhausted your patience. I know you’re eager to sample all the delights I’ve been describing. So go to it, with my blessing!

And honestly, you should be grateful. I’ve made it all the way through a Thanksgiving edition of the Lure without a single raunchy Pilgrim joke or tongue-in-cheek mention of turkeys in bondage.

Have a wonderful holiday. Go ahead, indulge your appetites!

Pruriently yours,
Lisabet

I'm still a bit surprised to find myself administrator of a community that dwells in the sensual and the erotic. Who would have thought all those dirty books residing under my bed would lead to this? I have to say it is wonderfully liberating to realize the only dirty things under my bed are the dust bunnies; that my passion for things erotic is simply a healthy interest in sexuality. There's nothing quite like a community of like-minded people to light the way. I graduated from University with a degree in anthropology and live with my professor husband. However, the New Yorker in me is still alive and kicking. We have three kids: a professor, a financier, and instructional designer. Things are more comfortable now that they don't have to answer the classic elementary school question, "What does your mommy do?" In 1996, with the help and encouragement of several women, I founded the Erotica Readers & Writers Association. It's a continuing pleasure to mingle with the passionate souls of ERWA.
